PostE3 2014 Star Fox Wii U

Today at E3, Miyamoto-San was supposed to drop a bomb that was going to rock the Nintendo world to its core. A Smart Bomb that is...

Due to untimely circumstances, Miyamoto's big surprise, a new Star Fox for the Wii U, was leaked a mear two hours in advance to the start of the Nintendo Digital Event. This new title staring the Lylat System's finest pilots was shown briefly in the Digital Event, through a blurred TV screen which was playing footage that somewhat resembled Star Fox' Corneria planet. Miyamoto later revealed at the Nintendo Treehouse Live Conference that his title has been in the works for almost a year now on the Wii U, and admitted to teams attempting to get Star Fox to work on the Wii for years.

This is the first time the Star Fox team was able to take off in a new adventure after being sidelined since 2006's Star Fox Command, and Fox hasn't lost a beat in the downtime. Reports from the E3 floor are saying that the game looks rough graphically but handles very well. Controlling this game revolves around the Gamepads analogue sticks and the gyrosensor. Analogue sticks will be used to move the Arwings and perform tricks like Barrel Rolls where as aiming the reticule has been designated to  gyrosensor.

An interesting twist on the traditional Star Fox gameplay is the ability to switch from an Arwing to a Landmaster on a moments notice, and the inclusion of a two player Helicopter vehicle. One player will pilot the chopper while the other controls a robot on the ground that can collect items and attack.

One thing Miyamoto stressed in an interview was that the control scheme takes roughly an hour to learn, something that might turn some gamers away, hopefully this control scheme won't divide gamers like the popular 3DS game Kid Icarus: Uprising control scheme.

Are you excited to see the Star Fox crew take flight in 2015? Tell us in the comments below.

It's about time that Star Fox made it's return. I'm really curious as to what kind of story the game will have. Will it be a sequel to one of the previous installments, or will it be more of a standalone?
