Image & Form
Like so many of the other developers we have featured on our Indie Dev of the Day, the developers, sometimes against all odds have dug their way to the top. Image and Form did that quite literally with Steamworld Dig, their claim to fame hit that is now available on many different platforms such as Nintendo 3DS & Wii U, and Steam.
Back in 2012, coming off of their iOS hit Anthill, development on SteamWorld Dig began. For a time, the game just wasn't fun according to Image & Form, but after a week of blood, sweat and tears, Steamworld Dig started to get closer to the end product gamers fell in love with. Protagonist Rusty had mined his way into their hearts, and even the heart of the creator of Minecraft! We loved it too, as you can read in
our review of the Wii U version.
Steamworld Dig became a hit, earning, and rightfully deserving many GOTY nominations in 2013. Since its original release on Nintendo 3DS, Steamworld Dig has been ported to Nintendo's console counterpart, the Wii U, and to Steam. Better yet for fans of Rusty's adventures, a sequel, Steamworld Heist is scheduled for a 2015 release. Here's to hoping that the Wii U counterpart of Rusty's debut adventure will earn just as many or more GOTY nominations as it did in 2013!
As some of you might have caught on by now, we give away a game from which ever developer we talk about in this series. Today, we have a code for Steamworld Dig for NA Wii U systems. In order to be eligible for the drawing, you must make a post stating you are interested, and one optional digging pun. Good luck to all that enter!
