Amiibo

So, a new product made by Nintendo, called amiibo, has recently hit the shelves. It's an innovative product itself. However, some amiibo have been in little stock and are hard to get. Do you already own any amiibo figures, or do you plan to buy any?

(Note: This is not only about the SSB amiibos, feel free to discuss amiibo from the Super Mario set or any future amiibo sets)

I have 6 Amiibo currently. If I get one more, I'll be able to do an 8 player Smash with them, so I'll probably grab one at some point.
And I also want Toad for Treasure Tracker... but I feel like he'll be rare.

I honestly hate the way Nintendo has handled this whole thing. They're running out of stock before they even come out as a result of so many people pre-ordering this. And this shouldn't even be a surprise to them, as this has been one of their bigger things since E3. The only Amiibo they've planned to make more of is Marth, which is once again a terrible move as people want WFT, Pit, Captain Falcon, and others. The New 3DS isn't out yet, either, so anyone without a Wii U that is buying a N3DS may have held out on Amiibo until the N3DS comes out, but they will only be able to get a few because they don't already have the Amibo. On the other hand, though, they're making more Amiibo that will be understocked; I think many would prefer it if Nintendo focused on making sure already-available Amiibo are stocked before moving on. I mean, there are tons of Marios and Pikachus just sitting on the shelves but no Pits available. And the rare ones are selling for many times the original price, but Nintendo isn't getting that money. This is really a bad move for Nintendo in this regard, then. So yeah... Amiibos. Those are my thoughts.

I'm shocked by how many amiibo(s?) people have. I've only got my pair of Kirby & Yoshi, but I'm pretty satisfied with just the two for the moment. That said, if Nintendo integrates some amiibo compatibility into XCX - which they no doubt will - then I'll probably end up buying them all.

Fortunately I don't really have any interest in any of the amiibo going for extortionate prices on ebay, although I agree Nintendo should produce more stock to help alleviate the situation. It's as though they have a phobia to earning money~

Speaking of amiibo, an update will be out on Feburary 10th adding amiibo support for Smash 3DS

Does this work with the portal & old 3DS method they suggested a while back? Or was that idea dropped?

I think it's probably still in the works, at least, most likely they're trying to make the New 3DS looks as good as possible for the time being and will officially reveal the portal at a later date. Just my 2 cents, though.

Considering how the perpheral hasn't been mentioned by Nintendo since E3, I'd say that it will be silently launched sometime this summer.

So the update will work for current 3DS', which is 4 days until the new models take over, but there will be no way to use it until you get the perphieral.

Only amiibo I see being compatible with XCX is probably Shulk, and even then Shulk is exclusive to GameStop in the US, and unless GameStop restocks him, then people in the US are gonna have a hard time snagging him because Nintendo and GameStop are a buncha jokers. (See what I did there? ...Okay I'll stop)

But yeah, I see what you mean about being satisfied with your only two. I only have three as of current (Link, Pikachu and Bowser) and I won't be getting anymore until I can preorder Ness.

Shulk compatibility with The New 3DS port is confirmed.

I almost hope the XCX supports all the Amiibo to unlock Nintendo themed outfits.

So, South African retailer Raru has listed Jigglypuff, Greninja and the Splatoon Boy and Girl amiibo on their website for a May release.

I'm not sure if I trust this, but man would I want to buy those Amiibo.

But seriously, pretty sure every smash character is already getting an Amiibo, its the Splatoon ones I'm interested in. If they have a competitive value, I'm in. If they don't do anything besides like, unlocking costumes or a something lame, then I might not get them if they do exist.

I honestly think that makes next to no sense. Nintendo's shown the variety of the characters, with different shoes, weapons, shirts, headgear, etc, wouldn't it be hard to make an amiibo for Splatoon?

At the same time, imagine the benefits it could provide. One idea is it could store your character's outfit on it, you bring it to friend's house, and you have your stuff. Any prizes you earn store on it to be brought home. This would also help in things like tournaments, which I guess they probably want to have for it.

Just an idea.

I'm calling that Mewtwo and Lucas will be released with Pittoo and Palutena.

I'd think the DLC characters would come out later then the rest of the Amiibo in their own set, because otherwise the later DLC would be released randomly or in a very small set. I'td make sense to me at least for them to be released in two, or even just one, sets.

Though I'd love if they came in the last wave of normal characters.

Late, but Wave 4 of the Smash Bros. line is out in Australia and Europe! (Minus Greninja and Jigglypuff)

I replayed Nintendo Land today, and it gave me an idea- give us a WarioWare game. Give us like hundreds of minigames. Then let each amiibo unlock one minigame in an Amiibo challenge mode. What do you guys think?

I guess it would work, it would be sorta like the amiibo mode on Mario Party 10.

@Knuckles Yeah, I just would think a 5 second minigame would be different from a full game mode.
