Cave Story

I don't hate Cave Story. I just hate to see it get so much praise. I'm not saying it doesn't deserve all the praise it gets, but it just gets me mad to see it for some reason.

Before I got Cave Story I had heard that it was perfect. I didn't expect the game to actually be perfect, but to at least deserve to be called perfect, and was very dissapoint when I played the game and felt it didn't deserve that.

I really liked the gameplay when I would first play a level, but when I would die I hated it. I had to start at the beginning of the level and when I did it was no longer fun. In most games when I die and start at the last checkpoint I still have fun replaying the level again but for some reason it wasn't like that in Cave Story. I really wished the game would have had more checkpoints. Even when there was a checkpoint right before a boss that I died at, I hated that I had to go through all the dialogue that happened before it that I had already seen.

I only did one playthrough of the game and I didn't do the Blood Stained Santuary/ Sacred Grounds/ Hell, but I really don't want to. I hear it's the hardest level in the game and if it is that would mean I would die there more than in any other part of the game.

I really hated Last Cave (Hidden). It was my least favorite part of the game. The booster was a bit annoying to use and I died a lot. There were a few times that I had gotten to the boss and died in the boss battle or right after it and that got me really mad. I really didn't understand why there couldn't have been a save point right before or after it.

I really hate to see the game get so much praise and sometimes I go to Google to search things like "Cave Story sucks" and "Cave Story is Lame Story" hoping to find someone on the internet that doesn't like the game but I've had no luck. All I saw was people calling it the best game ever and saying things like "If you don't like Cave Story you don't like video games" and that really got me mad, even though I do like Cave Story.

If I would tell people I would only give Cave Story an 8/10 they would probably call me crazy, or assume I played one of the worse versions like Cave Story 3D which I didn't, I played the 3DS eShop version.

Anyways, I hear you all like Cave Story so go ahead and rave about it here.

I've played the game numerous times and I enjoy it. I wouldn't say it's anywhere close to being "The Best Game Ever", but it is pretty good.

I've beat the game... 4 times, I guess, if you count the one time I saw the bad ending. It's what I'd call a perfect 2D Platformer, and it's one of my favorite games of all time. I too wouldn't say it's the best game ever, nor would I say that it's perfect, I'm just saying that it's a perfect game, for me.

I beat the Bloodstained Sanctuary once, but it was on Easy Mode (still took me over an hour, though). I'm trying to make it through the game on Normal, currently (well kinda, I put it on hold to beat other games).

Also, somewhat off topic statement, Wind Fortress, it's awesome, but it's impossible.

Can't say too much, but I agree with you Mosky, based on the Wiiware demo...which again isn't much, just enough to make me cautious to buy it.
