Indie Dev of the Day and Giveaway: Day 3 Zoink

Zoink! isn’t a developer that most Nintendo gamers will recognize, but they are more than worth of being included in our Indie Spotlight Giveaway. This Swedish team is comprised of game designers, film directors, and advertisement experts; Zoink! is a well rounded group of individuals that combine their talents to make magic. After successfully making commercials for Nike, animating for Disney, coding for Google, and dabbled with a few iOS games, this talented group of people created the delightfully fun and unforgettable title Stick It To The Man. We rather enjoyed this game, giving it a 9/10 in our review, which you can read here.

Indie Dev of the Day and Giveaway: Day 3 Weewaa

Zoink! is also responsible for the sadly never released title WeeWaa on the Wii. WeeWaa was awarded as the most innovative title of 2010, and has one of the most unique design schemes ever conceived on the Wii. By placing a Wiimote into a plushtoy’s mouth, you could take control of the toy as if it were a puppet in game. This concept sounds crazy, but the crazier part is that Zoink! actually got it to work, finished the game, even arranged for mass production of the plushtoy, only for the project to be canceled. Klaus Lyngeled, the owner and creative director of Zoink and the creator of the project, cited the investors and publishers backing out as the reason the project was canceled, stating that the third party market on Wii had shifted to being almost non profitable. Lyngeled still has hope in a release of WeeWaa on the Wii U however. According to Lyngeled, everything about the game is fully compatible with the Wii U, and would be easy to make as well. Unfortunately, the game would need a strong publisher to succeed, and without one WeeWaa might never be released. Zoink also has stated an interest in running a Kickstarter, but hasn’t as of the time of this writing. WeeWaa however made it to see the light of day, with many of the same aspects recycled in the iOS game WeeWaa Rock On.

Zoink! has also received the following awards: Gold Egg, Swedish Learning Awards, Best Kids Game 2010, and the European Innovative Games Award.

We are giving away one NA code for the Wii U version of Stick It To The Man. To be eligible to win a code, please tell us two reasons as to why you want to win Stick It To The Man in the comments below, and be sure to pat your head and rub your stomach simultaneously as you post!

For more information on WeeWaa watch this official video.

I'd like to win Stick it to the Man for Wii U because I love that this game has endearingly and off-beat characters who have quirky sense of humor. I'm also a big fan of 2D side-scrolling games that have great visual art and animation.

I want SittM because Clay told me I should want it, and because it got a good review.

I want Stick It to the Man because I played the first few chapters at a friend's house and I want to see how it ends, and I really like the quirky style and surreal humor.

The game is free, and freedom is good. Not to mention the fact that it has a unique premise and unusual artstyle.
