Perfect Games From Your Perfect Genre

This serves as a two part thread, because I had two ideas and thought I could link them. So essentially, to start off, what is your favorite video gaming genre(s)? Ok, now what're the games you consider to be perfect that fall under that genre?

For me, my favorite genre is 2D Platformer.

Favorite 2D Platformers/ones I would deem "Perfect":

Super Metroid
Cave Story
NightSky
Kid Icarus
Mega Man X
